Safe Cycling Crossing in Breuschwickersheim

As part of the development of active mobility, the Eurométropole of Strasbourg initiated an infrastructure project aimed at enhancing and securing the cycling crossing within the municipality of Breuschwickersheim (France). The project involved the modification of an existing roundabout to integrate a protected greenway. It also included the creation of a dedicated cycling facility along Rue du Fossé Communal.
The interventions focused on improving safety at the intersections of Ittenheim, Albert Schweitzer and Rue des Vignes, extending to the western exit towards Osthoffen. The objective was to ensure a clear, continuous and safe cycling route while improving the coexistence of all road users.

From a technical and transport planning perspective, the project required a reconfiguration of traffic spaces, adjustments to signage and an optimisation of traffic flows at key junctions. Particular attention was given to the safety of cyclists and pedestrians, especially at conflict points.
The works were carried out from October 2025 until February 2026.
