The aim is to modernise and maintain important light rail connections with a focus on safety, durability and accessibility in daily operation.
The project involves installing grooved rails in the asphalt and modifying several intersections, including replacing switches and drainage systems.
In Blücherstraße, tracks were renewed over a length of around 570 metres, including two switches and approx. 370 m² of track surface. In Franz-Lust-Straße, TTK is modernising a total of 1,230 metres of track, 25 metres of which are in the road area (asphalt) and 1,205 metres in ballast track – with over 11,000 square metres of new surface area.
The project is being implemented in close cooperation with our partner VBK and in accordance with high urban planning requirements for existing buildings.
The work ran from July 2024 (Franz-Lust-Straße) to June 2025 (Blücherstraße).
We are delighted to be working with VBK to contribute to sustainable mobility in Karlsruhe!
