The commissioning of the Babinière Operations and Maintenance Centre (CETEX) at the end of August 2025, north of Nantes, marks an important milestone in the extension and modernisation of the Nantes tram network. This new site will accompany the 1.4 km extension of line 1 from Ranzay to the Babinière terminus, the redevelopment of the multimodal transport hub and the construction of a park-and-ride facility and active modes facilities.
This extension marks a major step forward for the public transport network in the Nantes metropolitan area, now allowing passengers to cross the Erdre river and the Nantes ring road.
The TTK team contributed its expertise through detailed operational studies conducted to verify the site's storage capacity and assess the robustness of the site's operational functioning and the new terminus in various operating scenarios.
With the Babinière CETEX and the extension of line 1, Nantes Métropole and SEMITAN are taking a new step forward in consolidating an efficient, sustainable transport network that is tailored to the mobility needs of a rapidly expanding region.
