As part of the feasibility study carried out by TTK in collaboration with PTV TC, three possible network variants for a new light rail line in the Region of Pforzheim in Germany were examined.
The result: The Ittersbach - Straubenhardt - Birkenfeld – Pforzheim Brötzingen - Pforzheim Innenstadt - Pforzheim Haidach route clearly stands out, both in terms of traffic, urban development and economy.
The aim of the study was to find out how a new light rail system could better connect the region, strengthen local public transport and contribute to a sustainable mobility transition in the long term.
The results show that a well-coordinated connection can not only relieve commuters, but also provide new impetus for urban development and climate protection.
